A South African lady, Mapula Florah Manaka, was on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, sentenced to 27 years imprisonment for orchestrating the homicide of her husband, Archie Manaka throughout an incident.
The Limpopo High courtroom in Polokwane heard that Flora,40, and her boyfriend plotted a homicide towards Archie, 43, who was an IT Specialist in Polokwane.
On 08 April 2020, the deceased was attacked and stabbed a number of occasions at his house in Moletjie, Ga-Makweya, within the Seshego policing space exterior the City of Polokwane throughout what was believed to be a home theft.
When the police arrived on the scene, the deceased’s spouse reported that three unknown suspects forcefully entered the home, attacked her husband and took an undiclosed sum of money, laptop computer and fled the scene.
A case of homicide and theft was opened. Police investigation and manhunt for the suspects concerned ensued.
A Special Task Team comprising the Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigation Unit and Provincial Crime Intelligence Unit was established and spearheaded the investigation.
The deceased’s spouse, her boyfriend, Agrinate Makhubela aged 27 and his confederate aged 30, had been arrested a couple of months after the incident.
The investigating officer Detective Sergeant Noko Mashitisho hooked up to the Provincial Investigation Unit efficiently opposed bail and the accused had been stored in custody till the finalisation of trial. The third accused has since become a state witness.
Meanwhile, the case towards the accused’s boyfriend Agrinate Makhubela, is but to be finalised in courtroom.
The accused was sentenced to twenty years imprisonment for homicide and seven years for conspiracy to commit homicide.
The sentences will run concurrently, which means the accused will serve an efficient 20 years imprisonment.
