Please forgive us – Repentant insurgents beg Borno state residents as they conduct sanitation train in numerous communities

Some repentant insurgents have been on the streets of Maiduguri, the Borno capital on Saturday morning, August 13, to beg for forgiveness from residents of the state as they carried out sanitation train within the communities.

 

The sanitation train was organized by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) in collaboration with the Borno state authorities. Some of the repentant insurgents wore T-shirts with inscriptions that learn ‘Please forgive us’, ‘We have repented’, and ‘Let’s rebuild Borno once more’.

 

Speaking on the train, Mala Mustafa, a senior analysis fellow with CDD, stated the train is a part of efforts to organize them for his or her reintegration course of. He stated 400 of the repentant insurgents have been mobilised for the train, with 50 of them taking part this Saturday for a begin in Maiduguri hajj camp.

 

In July, Christopher Musa, theatre commander of northeast joint process drive of operation Hadin Kai, stated greater than 67,000 insurgents have surrendered to troops thus far.
